About Amanda
Turning Point
When I decided to join CrossFit, I had no idea what it really was, but I had seen the results others were getting from it. I always belonged to a gym but found myself walking around staring at machines, getting off the treadmill as soon as I was tired, or doing the same class over and over with little to no results. After a few classes at CFPV I was hooked. I was learning new things, using muscles I’ve never used, and feeling fitter and stronger everyday all while having fun. The friends I made and the great coaching staff encouraged me to push myself while being in a positive environment. I loved that no matter how much I had to scale, I always felt like I was just as much a part of the group and still getting a killer workout. Before I knew it, my scaling was becoming less and less, which was my proof that I was getting stronger and faster.
Motivation & Passion
As a nurse, I have passion for helping people to feel better and I find purpose with educating health. When I had an opportunity to be a CF coach, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to do it. It is something I had desired for years. As a coach, I use my personal CrossFit experience and my nursing career to help the CFPV members. I remember walking through the doors of CFPV and not knowing what a clean and jerk was, hadn’t attempted a pull up since middle school gym class, and hated cardio. I remember feeling scared, out of shape and lost. But those feelings didn’t last long. I remember sharing a bar with another member during back squats and experiencing the CrossFit “community” I had heard about as she cheered me on. I remember wanting to give up on a running workout when I was the last one outside, then 3 members who had already finished came outside and finished the workout with me and encouraged me to keep going and not give up. It is interactions like these that keep me coming back as a member and make me want to provide CFPV members with the same positive experiences I had. As a nurse, I understand how important physical, mental and emotional health is to our well being and how all these needs are met at CFPV. I couldn’t see living my healthiest life anywhere else and with a better group of people than the staff and members at CFPV!
