CrossFit is defined as that which optimizes fitness (constantly varied, functional movements performed at relatively high intensity). CrossFit is also the community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together!

We have a goal to teach people how to execute these movements properly while avoiding injury, gaining strength, and work capacity. What this means is that when you come in for a class, instead of doing isolated exercises, we will be doing exercises that work from the core out to an extremity. Every workout can be and will be scaled and geared towards ones own ability level. Your needs differ from another by degree, not kind. We all have a need to execute functional movements.

To be fit and physically competent to handle all of the challenges life throws your way is no small endeavor. As you continue to come to class, you will learn all about:

Movement – How to move safely and effectively.

Fitness – What it means to be fit, its definition, the supporting theories and how to go about attaining it in real life.

Nutrition – Eat meat & vegetables, nuts & seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.

You will use pull up bars, rowers, barbells, kettle bells, medicine balls and our facility space for running, squatting, lifting and gymnastics.  There won’t be time in the workout for elliptical machines or treadmills.

The CrossFit program is designed to improve endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. You will never get bored with the varying classes and programming!

We work on building stronger, more capable individuals using functional movements. These movements will be varied and executed at intensity (according to your personal ability). Functional movements are those that mimic movements performed in our daily lives. In order to get off a couch, you must squat. To pick up a heavy bag, you must deadlift.

Paul Smith
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer/CF
Competitor’s Course

Paul began CrossFit in 2013 while living in Alaska.  His first thought was, “I wish CrossFit was around when I was younger.”  Before that day he thought working out was about bicep curls, taking water breaks and checking out the mirrors…  CrossFit is unlike any other sport and after that first CrossFit class he was hooked.  Paul moved back home to Arizona in 2014 and began working out at CrossFit Prescott Valley, shortly thereafter he took the Level 1 course so he could start coaching at CFPV.  He has since obtained his CrossFIt Level 2 Certificate along with the Competitors Course.

Paul says, “one of the best accomplishments about being a coach is helping someone achieve a goal that they have been working so hard to get.  The CrossFit community is so awesome and I look forward to helping everyone achieve their health and fitness goals.  See you at the Box!”

Holli Rushton
Crossfit Level 1 trainer
Holli was born and raised in Prescott Valley. She grew up in organized sports as she comes from a family of athletes. Holli’s hobbies include boating, sand duning, and traveling. Holli began Crossfit in 2014; it was a natural progression from spin class and “boot camp” as Holli was looking for something “more.” In the beginning, Holli was not a huge fan of the barbell but over time, lifting has become one of her greatest loves of Crossfit. In the summer of 2017, Holli earned her Level 1 Training Certificate and is excited to be a part of the coaching staff at CFPV and sharing her love of nutrition and fitness.
Jeremy Rushton
Crossfit Level 1 trainer
Jeremy was raised in Prescott Valley and enjoyed playing basketball and baseball throughout his youth. Life took over in Jeremy’s early 20’s and health and fitness took an unfortunate backseat to his career and family for nearly 20 years. About 4 years ago, his then 14-year-old son talked him into joining Crossfit with him as a way to prepare for football. It didn’t take long for Jeremy to realize he found a second home. “The community surrounding our box is amazing, I enjoy being around like-minded individuals who aren’t afraid of hard work!” Jeremy obtained his Level 1 in the summer of 2017. “My goal is to share my passion for Crossfit and CFPV by example: show up, have fun, engage with our community, and get fit!”
